Pension savings can provide income for many generations

01 September 2016

It is now a full year since pension freedoms were introduced and with it an array of options. Today, Defaqto launches its CPD accredited Professional guide to drawdown, an independent review giving advisers and paraplanners all they need to know when advising on drawing income from pensions savings.

The case study includes a detailed look at the key retirement planning and investment considerations that form part of any plan to produce income in retirement. It also updates on the industry changes and their impact since the guide was first issued in September 2015. Previously, only dependants could inherit pension benefits in the form of income; now pension savings can be used to benefit future generations.

The author of the case study Richard Hulbert, Defaqto Insight Analyst (Wealth), says:

“With a seemingly infinite array of options created by pension freedoms, keeping up to date is almost a full-time job. Defaqto’s annual guide is packed full of the crucial facts and tips professionals need to know when advising on defined contribution pension schemes including the tax planning opportunities available to those in search of income in retirement.

“The case study also illustrates how a pension savings plan could provide income in one family for three generations.”
