Chief Financial Officer
Alastair joined Defaqto as CFO in January 2007 and was appointed to the board in April 2009. Alastair is responsible for all finance, legal and customer success matters at Defaqto.
He joined Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Services team in London as a trainee accountant in 1996. Since then he has spent his entire career focusing on innovative growth companies.
Alastair has experience of working in the UK and US (Atlanta), for and with global and domestic-focused organisations and for both private and fully listed UK and US companies, having worked on such matters as raising new debt financing, de-mergers and de-listings. At Defaqto, amongst other things, he has raised growth capital, improved the working capital cycle, listed institutional loan notes, introduced the Customer Success model and Microsoft Dynamics CRM and restructured the cost base. Alastair was part of the management team that carried out the MBO backed by Synova Capital in 2015.
Alastair holds a BSc Hons in Economics from St Andrews University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1999.
In his spare time Alastair enjoys spending time with his young family and the odd round of golf.
